Simona Gloriani nasce a Roma nel 1970. Dopo il Liceo Artistico la sua formazione continua con l’approfondimento delle tecniche pittoriche presso lo studio del maestro Moreno Bondi e nei corsi liberi dell’Accademia RUFA “Rome University of Fine Arts.
Il suo percorso, in continua evoluzione sia formale che tecnica, si orienta inizialmente sull’interesse per il corpo umano e il suo rapporto con le zone più nascoste dell’anima. In questa fase propone immagini decontestualizzate, donne appartenenti ad un tempo indefinito o luoghi immaginari.
Successivamente la sua attenzione volge a tematiche legate all'acqua intesa come simbolo di trasformazione ed evoluzione. I suoi soggetti si concentrano sulla vita portuale, sui pescherecci, le darsene, i depositi navali nel loro aspetto più vissuto, con la serie “Solido e liquido”.
La continua riflessione porta l’artista a interessarsi al concetto di ‘costruzioni artificiali’, uso e non uso, di spreco e di tutto ciò che produce inquinamento. Da qui le opere sulle antenne, ripetitorii, cantieri abbandonati, navi antipollution per poi giungere alla sequenza dei barili e delle trivelle petrolifere.
I richiami dell’inquinamento dei “bidoni” fanno prestare l’attenzione all’importanza di rendere noto il grave stato in cui viviamo (Rosario Sprovieri).
Le sue opere mostrano una raffinata trama pittorica che rivela una costruzione e decostruzione delle immagini, tra materia e trasparenza, razionalità e pulsione sentimentale.
Dopo aver esposto in numerose personali e collettive sia in Italia che all’estero, nel 2017 apre lo spazio espositivo Cosarte, nel quartiere Garbatella a Roma, dove si occupa sia di formazione artistica che di esposizioni e mostre d’arte in qualità di curatrice.
Il suo obiettivo non è solo espositivo ma quello di creare un contesto nel quale si riuniscano periodicamente gruppi di artisti per la condivisione di idee e progetti.
Simona Gloriani was born in Rome in 1970. After her graduation from the liceo artistico, an Artistic Highschool, she continues her studies at the atelier of the professor of painting techniques Moreno Bondi and in free art classes at the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA).
At the beginning of her career, her steadily evolving interests focus on the study of the human body and its interaction with the soul’s most hidden corners. At this stage she creates decontextualized paintings, featuring women belonging to an undefined point of time or to imaginary places.
Later, her attention is captured by the theme of water as a symbol of transformation and evolution. In that period, Simona studies in her series of paintings “Liquid and Solid” the port life, its docks, the fishing vessels and boathouses in their most battered shapes.
The artist’s curiosity then evolves around the concept of ‘artificial constructions’, their use and abandonment, around wastefulness and pollution. Antennas, cell towers, abandoned shipyards, anti-pollution vessels become subjects of her artwork that culminate in a sequence of oil barrels and oil platforms. “Her reference to the pollution caused by the barrels draws attention to the importance of shedding the light on the severe state we live in” (cit. Rosario Sprovieri).
Gloriani’s works show a refined pictorial theme that reveals a construction and deconstruction of images, between matter and transparency, rationality and sentimental drive.
After numerous solo and collective art exhibitions in Italy and abroad, in 2017 Gloriani inaugurates her own atelier in Rome’s urban district Garbatella. This studio became her space for art education as well as artistic exhibitions and cultural events.
